Hang on to your socks Harry Potter fanatics! From what we’ve seen online, here’s a series of the most rare Harry Potter collectibles. This series was designed BEFORE the HP movies were in production. Warner Bros. created a look for the characters that was to be followed by all artist’s working on licensed HP products. Our in-house creative director was a designer that worked on early Harry Potter products in 2000 and was given a set of unpainted maquettes to help assist product design.
Later, the maquettes were introduced as fully painted limited edition collectibles at Warner Bros. stores. However, the WB store concept closed shortly after they were introduced and the complete run of figures was never manufactured or distributed.
The unpainted versions were only distributed in limited numbers and only sent to artist’s that requested the maquettes to help with product design.
Ron Weasley: This maquette, in full color, is thought to have been produced in a quantity of 70 pieces. (source: The Potter Collectible Facebook page) We do not know how many un-painted Harry’s are in existence, but we could find no results online.
Ron is about 12” tall. He is highly detailed and in very good condition. He’s depicted holding his friend Scabbers.
The figure is loose from the base, as it was originally shipped. There are two short screws that come through the bottom of the base into Ron’s feet, but they never held the figure firmly in place. A soft putty was used to keep the figure in place on the base for display.
These items will be very carefully packaged for shipment and insured (will require signature delivery). If you live within driving distance to our studio in Howell, Michigan, they are available for pick-up, and your shipping charge can be refunded.
